Groundhog Day

When the grumpy, arrogant and cynical Pittsburg TV weather man Phil is sent to a remote Pennsylvania town to report on an animal that apparently forecasts the weather, he makes the journey reluctantly. He has already covered the story four times before, and he's sick to death of it. But this time is different. Horribly different. He wakes up the day after the event to discover it's Groundhog Day all over again, and again, and again... and eventually realises he will never escape unless he makes big changes to his attitude.

The respected British Director and dramatist Matthew Warchus is at the helm for his inaugural season at the The Old Vic, and this is the world premiere of the brand new musical. Composer and lyricist Tim Minchin, choreographer Peter Darling and designer Rob Howel, all involved with the hilarious international theatre success Matilda The Musical, are collaborating with writer Danny Rubin to create the stage version of a story that has never lost its powerful appeal. If you love nothing better than having your funny bone tickled, you'll adore it. Great fun!

Great cast, great music (Tim Minchin you genius), great staging - who could ask for anything more!

I cried multiple times
A fantastic production; Tim Minchin's lyrics got me through a lot of hard times, and the morals of struggling against depression really helped me improve my own mental health and see the world through a better lens. Genuinely, thank you. I'd heard the soundtrack before, but seeing it live was life affirming and wonderful. It would be extreme to say the story saved my life, but it certainly made me reconsider my suicidal outlook and find more beauty in the world.

Brilliant must see show!
The music, comedy, poignant songs. Really, what's not to like? I went with a group - some who already loved the show and some who didn't know anything about it. All really enjoyed it!
